Anne runs away.....~Dream~

Satyr
Anne was bored, she fluttered her wings, excitedly however, that Stalker was coming to visit her. She didn't like staying in this big house all alone, and she was horribly afraid, she wasn't sure of the big troll that was with her, and she certainly wasn't sure that she really liked the sand, it got in her wings and made her itch.

She looked at Pegasus, tears in her eyes for a few moments, then questioned why Mommy Miracle had left her here. For the first week, it was alright, but this was swiftly becoming scary and boring and she didn't like it anymore. "Mommy Miracle must not want us any more." She said to the pegasus.

"I'm sure that she cares Anne," the pegasus softly answered, "she wouldn't leave us here."

Anne pouted, she didn't agree with her pegasus, and she was upset, she took a small bag and packed a few things in it, and set outside to go on an adventure. She hadn't gone outside alone since they came and took all her friends away, and she brought pegasus with her. She ran into the woods, trying hard to remain unseen, and started to walk through them. She didn't want anyone to promise to take care of her again, she didn't think they would any more. And she didn't understand any of this.

She wandered deep into the woods and suddenly Stalker came out and scared her, she screamed - partially terrifed. He smiled slightly at her and then took his knife and cut off a lock of her hair like he said he would. She smiled at him and bounced, "I'm running away..." she fluttered her wings and looked at him, hoping that he'd invite her along with him.

Stalker looked down at her, his yellow left eye unnervingly looking off and away, "why?" He inquired.

"Mommy doesn't want us anymore. She left us here, and isn't coming back to get us." The little girl had tears gleaming in her eyes. Anne grasped her pegasus tightly, trying to hold back the tears and be strong.

Stalker looked down at her akwardly, placing a discolored hand on her shoulder and patting her. "Oh? How long's it been?"

The little girl cried, she tried to count the days, but still had no concept of time, or really of numbers fully yet. She held up 10 fingers trying to make sense out of why her mommy would leave her. Stalker frowned and fingered the hilt of his sword, "so...running away, eh? Where are you planning on going?"

"I'm gonna find my friend that they took away from me, and go back to them, where I belong...." She said through a few sniffles, "I knew mommy wouldn't want to keep me, no one wants to keep me...." She hugged her pegasus to her tightly and tried to put her on brave face.

"It's dangerous out, girl. There are bad people, and it's cold. You won't be safe on your own."

She looked at the red cap, "But they don't want me and your not suppose to stay where your not wanted." She countered. "No one wants me, around, I'm too little."

Stalker licked his lips, "Well, you will grow. You're looking for your friend?"

She nodded and sniffled, "Renee always liked me, she protected me. And she didn't leave me until the others took her away. She told me to hide, because they might hurt me."

"Do you know if she's still alive?"

"Mommy let me speak with her. I can find her." Anne nodded, "she doesn't disappear too far from me. She can't."

"Well....How are you going to eat?"

Anne looked him him, thoughtfully, and bit her lip for a moment.

Stalker nodded. "C'mon, I'll teach you how to hunt."

Anne nodded at him and followed, bouncing slightly.

Stalker took her hunting and taught her to fish and cook and prepare food. They did this for a whole day, out in the woods, before Stalker had to get back to what he was doing. Leaving the little girl out in the woods. Stalker turned back and watched as Anne was following a sparklie and as she followed he added a bit of luck to her travels....

Sweet Melissa, I often pray for you
I hope your suffering was brief
I hope the angels that watch over all little children
Came for you and took you someplace beautiful and sweet
Aahh..
Suffer The Little Children

Anne woke up screaming, she could feel the cold iron brushing up against her flesh, ripping into her again and again, and she could hear the laughter that was following each blow. It seemed so real, seemed too real to her, she wanted it to stop and it did when she woke up. She grabbed her Pegasus and held him tightly, tears flowing down her cheek as she heard Uncle Frankie and Ben running down the hall to her. She was so afraid of having to go through that pain again, she only wanted to be loved, just like any other child would, but they had hurt her instead, she was afraid that these new people she had come to live with would do the same to her, so she ate to keep up her strength, not sure when the food would stop coming to her.

They cry in the dark, so you can't see their tears
They hide in the light, so you can't see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child

"I'm so afraid Pegasus, they're going to leave me some day and I'll be alone again, honestly, there are times I think being locked in the box was best."

Her Pegasus warmed to her, and once Frankie and Ben both left to get her hot chocolate to calm her down, he spoke to her, "Why Anne?"

"Because it might have hurt a lot, but at least, I knew I wasn't well, you know, cast out."

"Anne, I think these people love you."

"But they don't hurt me...how can you love something if you never hurt it?"

"Pain, isn't love Anne, it's pain."

Because Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

She frowned at the Pegasus briefly trying to puzzle out his words, she curled up close to him on the bed, her tears still streaming down her face, Frankie came back in and smoothed her hair and gave her the hot chocolate. She looked up at him, her eyes red, and she grasped the cup in her little hands. "Uncle Frankie, Pegasus says that you don't have to hurt things to love them."

"He's right. You should never hurt things you love."

"Why?" She asked curiously.

"Because it's not nice to hurt things, especially things you care about and love."

She made a little oh face and drank her hot chocolate.

It's all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
You're daddy's good girl, and don't tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

"Why then did the mean people do it, if they didn't love me?" She asked Frankie.

"That my dear is a question for your mommy." Frankie smiled at her, "Now get in bed before I tickle you."

She giggled and climbed into bed, hiding beneath the covers with her Pegasus after handing Frankie her cup. He gently kissed her on the head and tucked her in. "No more bad dreams tonight...the princess needs her sleep."

Because Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell Is For Children
And you shouldn't have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

"Do you think he's right?" She asked her Pegasus once all the lights were out.

"I believe so."

"Oh," and she yawned then fell asleep.

No, Hell Is For Children

She dreamed...

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

She could feel them coming....

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

She could smell the odors they had, the nasty after shave, the medicine, they wanted to make her like them...

Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell is for Hell
Hell Is For Children

But she wouldn't surrender....because she knew

Hell Is For Children
Hell Is For Children

Lion And Rose Castle

The Lion & The Rose Castle resides on 20 acre mountain top adjacent to Pike National Forrest in the Colorado mountains 12 miles outside of Woodland Park. The castle was built by Eric K. Glanzer and his wife Nancy. Construction went from 1991-2000. It has 6500 sq. ft. of finished living space and two, 2-car garages in the lower level. It is adorned with highly carved gilded plaster crown moldings, Italian marble floors, antique chandeliers and furnished with period antiques. The stone is European castle stone....a waterfall and stream are incorporated into the entryway landscaping. It has five bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths. The views of the Rocky's are breathtaking...360 degrees. Though it was a Bed & Breakfast..it has reverted back to being our home after five years and 600 plus couples having enjoyed its antiques and ambiance.

Anne grabbed at her Pegasus, looking at it and trying to make sense out of the large scary house. It was big. She stared up at it wondering if it was really meant for her to get lost within or if her mommies would always find her. They encouraged her to go into the house and she did so, not without some thought however. They walked her through the huge building and she shivered. Her Pegasus growing warm for her and comfortable. Finally, she walked into the area that was meant to be her living quarters and looked around. Then it happened. It shocked her and she looked at the Pegasus not understanding at first, then totally accepting it as it was. She smiled and giggled and bounced all through the room, her Pegasus talking to her and telling her how neat the huge house was. She got a bit braver as the Pegasus continued to talk to her and she explored the crawl space between the playroom and her room, and came out into the giant playroom and stared at the pretty windows.

She giggled thinking that the windows were so pretty and she crawled up onto the ledge near them, staring at the windows and looking at the pretty colors that sparkled and played in the sun. Her mommies were in the house but she couldn't hear them and then she looked over her shoulder and saw Rowena standing there and bounced over to her giggling delightfully.

She ran through the hallways and down to where Mommy Miracle was, and saw the huge owie on her arm. Mommy Miracle had told her just earlier that she was going to have Rowena fix it, that she was going to take a bath and have Rowena fix it. She screamed and ran down the hallways back to her room and hid under the bed, where she cried softly. She didn't want mommy Miracle to be hurt. She didn't want any of them to be hurt. She knew if the bad people could hurt them, they could find her again and she was scared. For once, she was not in pain, not being touched by things that seared and burned her, not being cut by cold iron. She didn't like any of their experiments and she didn't want to go back to them.

She cried softly to her Pegasus as she hid under the bed, only coming out once her Pegasus had relieved her fears and she slowly shuffled over to Rowena. She looked up at the woman tears still glistening in her eyes and she tried so hard to be brave, she didn't want the woman to see her cry, but she did anyway, and slowly she wiped the tears from her eyes as Rowena picked her up. She held on tightly to Pegasus and told Rowena that all Miracle needed was darkness and it had to be the good kind so that it would heal her. But she wasn't sure. Pegasus had told her that, and she wanted to desperately believe him. So she had.

They got out to the car and they handed her a granola bar and a juice box. She ate quietly, laying on the back seat for once so her wings weren't pinned down. It hurt when they were and the seat belts weren't kind in the least. She started to close her eyes and dream but Miracle told her not to fall asleep right now. And so she at the granola bar and drank the juice. They were going to go visit Uncle Sin and she was excited and happy about it. They told her that after Uncle Sin looked at it, they would heal it all up.

But she still couldn't help but be afraid....

Anne held her stuffed Pegasus tightly, she refused to let it go. She took it with her everywhere, ever since it was given to her. Miracle just let her keep it with her, in the glade, in the house, outside, in the kitchen. Frankie even had it help cook dinner last night. But it didn't stop the dreams. She woke up screaming, alone in a big room, and terrified. Frankie rushed in to see what was wrong, and grabbed her up into his arms. She cried. She was alone and she knew it. He rocked her, trying to comfort the small girl, trying to set her at ease. She reached out for her Pegasus but it wasn't there. And finally Frankie picked it up and handed it to her before he went off to go make her some hot chocolate and settle her down. She wiped at her tears and whispered softly to her Pegasus. Telling it things that she could never tell anyone else, and she tried to give it some glamour. She wanted to make the Pegasus come alive, to really comfort her, to really hold her as she holds it.

She continued to speak to it, having a conversation for it.

"And the big scary monster tried to shove me in a box, and then he was really mean and scary. He tried to tell me I didn't exist, that I wasn't real, but I told him he didn't exist and wasn't real. And he was really scary and looked mean. And then he said he'd hurt me and I'd understand just how real he was, and then he touched me with this thing....and it hurt a lot..."

She cried into her stuffed Pegasus, with all her heart, holding it close to her.

"And then, mommy Miracle tried to save me...but he killed her. He said that no one could love me...."

The little girl felt lost at that point, what if her dream was real? She had had dreams that became real before. Like when people came and got all the children out of there. She knew but she didn't say anything because no one would believe her. She didn't understand and Renee wasn't around to explain things to her. She was all alone. Frankie came back in with the hot chocolate and she grew silent. She took the hot chocolate and drank it, Frankie tried to talk to her about her dream but she wouldn't say anything. Partially in fear that talking about it too much might make it true. She let him hold her though, and comfort her. It was probably the last time anyone would. No one could really want her, no one had wanted her in so long. She tried not to get attached and David came into the room, she had woken him up too. She looked at him and clutched her Pegasus closer to her, holding him tight. And he crawled up on the bed and laid down. He yawned, and she soon followed suit and the two curled back up and went to sleep.

Frankie looked over them and left them both there.

~Anne~ Background

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Satyr
Anne was born to a cruel harsh world. The fae that had existed once in her city, had long abandoned it, or so those who found her thought. They reconized her for what she was straight off the bat, and took her in. It wasn't out of some sort of love, or gentleness, instead it was out of morbid curiousity. They were Autumn at best, at worse, Dauntain, and they kept her locked up and imprioned since she was two years old.

They had told her parents that they didn't want her. They told her she wasn't real. They tortured her with cold iron, they fed her scraps that were barely worthy of a dog, but she'd hungerly eat. They tried to make her like them. This transpired over time, it happened slowly and she suffered at thier hands. They knew no mercy, they simply wanted a fae of thier own to experement on and a childling, seemed perfect for thier own style of torture and change.

The only good part of her life really was the other children around her, but they also hurt her, but she quickly learned that those who didn't hurt her were hurt far worse at the hands of thier "parents" The eldest amongst them, Renee, named her, Anne, a simple name really, but Anne liked it. Renee tried to take some of the punishment that they had reserved for Anne, and did her best to protect the younger ones, she had taught Anne to hide herself and to not listen to the "mean" people. She tried to teach Anne what she would need to survive in the cold world that they were living in, and Renee succeeded to some degree.

Anne cried the night the other fae came and took her friends away, she silently wept thinking that they were going to be even worse then her current situation. She was scared and she hid. She followed the children from a safe distance, or so she thought.

She spent a few nights at the nice place the children had first been taken to, sleeping outside, trying to avoid being seen, hiding just like Renee had taught her to. She was hungry, she was alone, she was cold and most of all she was scared. The people who had her before she thought, at least gave me things to eat, she could smell the scents of food lingering on the air and her stomach grumbled at her. She felt so weak, and her body hurt from the abuse of the cold iron that had been used on her until Renee had told her to hide.

She looked around and lit up a trail that would lead her to Renee, she needed to find the only person she could trust, the only person she could have and hope with, she flew for a bit, but her hunger forced her to land, in the woods near some apartment buildings.

As Anne stood in the woods, scared, alone, she looked up at the apartments, thinking of how nice it must be to be inside. She wished that the mean people hadn't taken her away from her home. While a lot of the time she didn't like it there, at least it was inside and what one could say warm. She shivered and her wings slightly fluttered. She had flown this far and was tired. She was tired and hungry. She wanted to stop but she needed to find the other children. She kicked at the dirt and shivered again. Suddenly she saw movement and went further back into the woods, trying to disappear within the woods. She looked at the people who came outside, and watched them for a few moments, almost dreamily, her mind turning with hope and dreams of her own. She knew she had to find the rest of the children, she whispered to the wind and blew on her hands and watched as a trail became illuminated before her.

Then the lady who was outside started walking towards her, she froze slightly, terrified of being seen. The woman was large and looked like her, she stared at the woman and saw a cat appear and she watched for a few moments until the cat came towards her, she struggled to try to scare the cat away from her, fluffing out her wings and trying to be intimidating, but it didn't work, the cat pounced her hoof suddenly and she shook it until it came off and she went tumbling into the lady. She looked up at the lady who gently stopped her and stared at her, a hint of terror showing in her eyes. She couldn't help it. She couldn't help the feeling that these were the bad people who took her only friends away. She sat there terrified until the lady picked her up and stood her up.

Her hair, was stringy and dull, not at all like the lady's brilliantly colored hair which was black and red, and her clothing was tattered and in desperate need of repair. Again not at all like the lady's pristine clothing that even smelled nice. and her wings just were dingy, her eyes looking at the woman, and staring at her in awe, she stammered and shied away trying so hard to be brave and find her friends, but she wasn't brave at all, she was scared and so little compared to this lady. Her mind filled with the worse thoughts, the sting of the cold iron that was used to hurt her, the feel of the shackles that tied her up for so long that she couldn't struggle against them any more. The feel of the knives as they sliced into her skin cutting her so deep she wanted to cry out. Renee taught her not to scream, that it only made it worse, and so she remained silent suffering in silence, and not acknowledging the things that were being done to her.

Her eyes traveled over the woman, and she thought back to the feelings of pain, of nightmares, and trying to convince herself that the bad people didn't exist. She tried so hard to make believe they didn't exist but the pain seemed far too real sometimes, especially as she was so hungry. The woman offered her candy and she moved forward slightly, then hesitated. "What if this is a trick?" She thought, then she decided that she couldn't go forward any more without food of some sort. She looked at the woman who picked her up and brought her into the warm house, her body shivering from the cold of outside. It was bitter and bit deep into her. She wasn't sure at all of how to handle this. She wanted to run away and hide, but she was so hungry and food of any kind, even the scraps sounded good to her.

The woman looked her over and she was confused about what she was seeing then another came and scared her, she tried to hide but the woman held her close and wouldn't let her go. "Mir..." the other woman said, and looked at the lady who was holding her. She tried to hide, pushing herself into the body of the lady who was holding her, scared and terrified at what was going to happen to her, how badly they'd hurt her now that they knew she was there. The two women looked at each other and she could feel something different floating in the room, it wasn't at all what she was use to. They spoke to her, attempting to reassure her and calm her fears, but some fears couldn't be forgotten, shouldn't be forgotten and she remembered each one. She remembered Renee telling her to stay quiet and stay hidden and not to show herself to the ones who were taking them away. She did what Renee told her, trying to be brave and not cry, but it was hard, she wanted to go with them, and she followed from a distance and found the freehold. She hid again there, trying to stay unseen, and be out of the way, she watched the people as they scurried about and saw so many things she couldn't make sense out of. Her own fear however was consuming her and she didn't have the strength to come out and be seen. Then the children all left, they all vanished while she slept outside in the garden, and she hid herself and sent out things to help her find them. She wanted to be with the only people she knew and understood, she wanted to be held and comforted. Not by strangers, not by those whom would harm her, but by Renee who always tried to look after her.

She looked up at the woman and then there was food, she jumped and ate it down so fast that it was gone before you could blink. It was warm, and good, and it tasted so good. She liked that it was warm still, usually what got thrown to her was ice cold, and rotten. She ate it more to keep her strength up then for any other reason. She stared at them. Wondering what they were going to do to her next and she shivered. They wanted to give her a bath, and told her she'd like it. She went with the lady and she was happy, her stomach for the first time mostly full and she watched as the woman ran a bath for her. Then came the order that terrified her, she was told to undress, and she shook her head, she had seen the other girls get hurt because they undressed, watched as the boys were made to hurt them, and she shivered and shied back away from the woman. The woman looked at her then picked her up still clothed and put her in the warm water. Her wings fluttered slightly, splashing the lady, but she didn't get upset she just splashed back and Anne giggled then rather happy that she wasn't being hurt, and amazed that the bath felt nice. She splashed around until the woman touched her hair, and she cried her beautiful hair, never before had anyone washed her hair and she wasn't certain that she really liked this. The woman then picked her up and took her out and wrapped her in a big fluffy warm towel. It felt so nice she tried to stop crying again and be brave, and the woman told her that her hair smelled like apple trees now.

She sniffed at her hair, listening to the woman and being told to undress under the towel. The lady promised that no one would hurt her again, that she would be healed up and it wouldn't hurt any more. She didn't trust them. She looked at the hands of the lady wanting to touch her and examined them, looking to see if there was anything that might hurt her on her hands and then she pushed up the sleeves, and examined her arms as well. They healed her up, her scars fading and the big open wounds on her slowly knitting together and repairing. She looked at them in awe and a knock came on the door.

She hid under the big towel trying to stay unseen, she didn't want anyone to take her away, not now, not right now. She shivered in fear that they had come to take her away. And Miracle stuck her head under the towel and tried to hide with her. Then the other lady came in with several bags for her, "presents" she called them, and Anne looked at them lost. No one had ever given her anything before. She was told to look in the bags, but her own fear rose up in her and over came her curiosity. She tried to hide again next to Miracle, and Miracle picked up the bags one at a time and dumped them out and showed her everything in there. There were shiny. She liked the shiny things. She picked up the pink hoodie and stared at it. No one had given her anything before and she looked at the hoodie then at Miracle again. And Miracle nodded to her. She picked up the stuffed Pegasus and held it close and Miracle got her dressed.

Soon enough she had settled in with Miracle and Rowena and was learning what it was to be a child who was very loved.
